On January 31, the University of Florida's Marston Science Library hosted NASA's Environmental Monitoring through Education, Research, and Geospatial Engagement (EMERGE) Data Hackathon. Bringing together students, library staff, researchers, and community members, the event showcased how real-world space data can translate into practical tools for monitoring environmental conditions and public health concerns. By making sophisticated scientific data accessible beyond traditional laboratories, NASA empowered attendees to engage actively with the environmental challenges they face daily. This initiative exemplifies how citizen science can bridge the gap between space research and community well-being, inspiring informed action right where people live and work.
