More than three million internet-connected devices—ranging from routers to webcams—were compromised to form extensive botnets behind a wave of unprecedented distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. In a coordinated effort, authorities from the United States, Canada, and Germany successfully disrupted the command infrastructure of four major botnets known as Aisuru, Kimwolf, JackSkid, and Mossad. These botnets have been linked to some of the most severe DDoS campaigns capable of taking down nearly any online target. This international collaboration highlights the critical need to dismantle the unseen networks driving cyberattacks and underscores the importance of securing all devices in our increasingly connected environments.
