Jalen Williams is set to return to the Oklahoma City Thunder lineup on Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers after missing 16 games with a right hamstring strain.
What happened
According to the Associated Press, Williams had already missed the first 19 games of the season while recovering from wrist surgery. He then injured his hamstring on Jan. 17 against the Miami Heat and reaggravated it after coming back for two games in February.
Key details
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said Williams has handled his work well and is expected to be in shape, though game rhythm may take a little time to return.
Williams was an All-Star last season and helped Oklahoma City win the NBA title despite playing with a wrist injury suffered late in the season. In 26 games this season, he is averaging 17.5 points and shooting 31.3% from 3-point range.
Why it matters
Oklahoma City enters the game at 56-15 with the best record in the Western Conference and an 11-game winning streak. Williams' return adds a regular contributor back into the lineup as the Thunder continue their final stretch of the season.
